This artwork features an expressive charcoal study of a ballet dancer training. It contrasts light and dark with chiaroscuro principles. ‘Teal Shift’ is part of my ‘Unspoken’ collection, which explores body language through the medium of expressive, figurative charcoal drawings. This work in particular addresses the mental athletics I observe in human social dynamics. It’s about staying with your authentic self in times when that is being challenged. That sense of staying in what you know is true while flowing with life’s challenges. This drawing is digitised and transformed into a beautiful giclee print. It captures a fierce energy and is brimming with a sense of glowing form that breaks into loose strokes of light charcoal marks and sweeping lines of ink.
