Between Time and Space is one of my works that aim to talk about the sides of a human that we often forget. When I was drawing this one I couldn’t help thinking of how the soul must sometimes spill a little out of our body and something ancient within is revealed. Sometimes, when I draw people I think about the bit of scripture where it’s said we were made in God’s image. When I look at people I try to see through to the image of God.
I feel like this character emerges in a blur of charcoal drawn lines and marks. He appears in and out of focus. One commenter on Instagram said ‘Between time and place’ and I felt that captured the essence of an idea I hadn’t quite put words to.
